Multi Converters

Post by tack1000 »

Hi

I am wanting to use the TC-08 (USB type) and the ADC 11 (serial port type) at the same time and would like to know if the sampling rate for the ADC 11 has to be the same as the TC-08?

The TC-08 is full (all ports used) with a sampling rate of 800 MS. Where as the required rate on the ADC-11 would need to be 5 MS.

Is there a way to have different rates on Multiple Converters?

Also does anyone know the fastest sampling rate of the TC-08 when all ports are used?

Hello,

The sampling rate of the Serial TC08 is 200ms for each active channel plus 200ms the cold junction. With all 8 channels plus cjc: 1800ms sampling interval. The USB version samples at 100ms per active channel plus 100ms for cjc.

The ADC11 will work alongside the TC08 without problem but you will only be able to use real time continuous modes.

Best regards,
Michael

Hi

So from your reply ONE rate does all, not quite sure what you meant by last comment. Please a little more basic for a thickky.

No Problem!

PicoLog records in 3 modes:
Realtime continuous samples at intervals specified by you. Windows attempts to contact the device(s) at the specified interval and returning the current reading or last know reading if the unit has not resololved a reading. This allows you to sample at shorter intervals for mixed converter units. Sampling intervals vary from 10ms to 1-2ms.
Fast block works using instrument buffers and timing is generally controlled by the hardware. This accesses the highest sampling rates on the hardware.
Streaming modes is basically a hybrid of the realtime and fast block.

Only realtime continuous mode supports multiple loggers so we will concentrate here. TC08's have a longer conversion time so in order to work with other units it holds the last known reading in memory. Picolog visits the device at your requested interval asking for the last resolved reading. The ADC11 works much faster but in a similar fashion. You can introduce a scan time winodw for each channel as the ADC11 can sample faster than Windows can visit it.
