automotive scope

Post by thongsai »

i have searched the forums, and you guys keep insisting we buy the more expensive "automotive" scope for automotive purposes.. other than it being faster what is the reason?
We need the scope for sensors and ignition mostly. couldnt all the scopes do that? including the very cheap ones?
why cant i just a regular cheap pc one and buy ur automotive software and secondary clamp set?

The cheaper scopes are simply not powerful enough for things like ignition and injection where you need not only faster sampling rates, but also high resolution and lots of memory.

The automotive software will only work with the automotive scopes.

Hi,

Yes, the scope is able to calculate duty cycle and by looking at the ignition waveform you will be able to measure dwell.
