Picoscope 2200 series with Macbook Air - measurement issues

Post by single_ended »

Hi. I am experiencing the following measurement issues with the 2206 on the Mac.

I originally purchased a 2204 and recently added a 2206.

On the 2206, in spectrum mode, the data acquisition appears unstable. The harmonic signals vary greatly and with automated measurements, the numbers jump around quite a bit. For example, THD might vary between 0.1% to 0.4%, or between 1.2% and 2%. Installing the 2204 and using the same probe, the data acquisition and measurements become stable (though the automated distortion measurements are comparatively higher than those from the 2206).

Thanks.

Can you post the data files, or screen shots, to show what you mean ?

Hi.

Here are several measurements comparing the 2204A and the 2206A.

Many thanks!

Hi. I have an additional follow up inquiry pertaining to the 2204A. The distortion measurements at 100mv input are higher than the distortion measurements at 500mv input. This appears consistent across different amps - not sure why 2204A is giving such readings. Tips on improving the measurements at low mv input would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

The two devices are based on different hardware designs, and they have different specifications. The higher input bandwidth of the 2206a, and the different front end design, may explain the differences you are seeing with your tests.

Hi Martyn,

Thank you for the explanation. But since the 2206A measurements are not stable, they are not useful in fine-tuning a design. I require a solution to resolve the stability issue when using the 2206A with the Macbook Air. Your advice is greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

We would need some details on what you are measuring, therefore it may be better to send these directly to the support team at support@picotech.com
