Can't find Linux SDK / resources for USB TC-08

Post by bms »

I keep trying to find all the resources so I can develop my own software to interface with a TC-08 and I can't find it through official channels.

More so, some code I was able to find does seem to be relative to this device but the critical part (libraries) are nowhere to be found.

I found a library packaged for debian/ubuntu (http://labs.picotech.com/debian/pool/ma ... libusbtc08) and despite not using such distributions myself I extracted them looking for the required libraries but they don't match at all.
I suspect the bits I have are from completely different versions with plenty renames, etc.

Hopefully someone will be able to point me in the right direction.
Kind regards,
Bruno Santos

Hi Bruno,

Please refer to the instructions on our Linux Software & Drivers for Oscilloscopes and Data Loggers page.

You will need to install the libusbtc08 package.

I hope this helps.

Ok, so that's the repo I was refering to, glad to know it's maintained and supported.

Although, there are references to demo software that would make use of that library I assume.
Is that demo source available anywhere? It would accelerate things a bit.
Otherwise, the programmer's manual and that repository should be enough.

Thanks for the support.

Hi Bruno,

There should be a C console example in the package that is installed.

Yes, you're right, thank you.
Somehow I missed it before.

Also, I can't use any of the packages so I need to install manually since I'm using a different distribution.
Although extracting the files and installing everything manually is not really hard at all, may I suggest to have an alternative packaging that favors a manual installation and checksum validation?
As it is, I had to study the internals of unfamiliar (and irrelevant for me) packaging systems in order to validate the download.

Thank you very much for your help.

Hi Bruno,

Thanks for the suggestion.

Which Linux distribution are you using?

I'm using arch linux for most of my systems, including work.

Since I'm at it, may I also suggest a different name?
One of the things that mislead me was that this is called 'picoscope' when in fact it aplies as well to loggers.
Maybe a generic name like 'picotech' wouldn't cause the same confusion?

Best regards

Hi Bruno,

I will feed your comments back to the Development Team.

The arch linux platform is something for consideration.
