Finding pulse carrier frequency

Hi,

I have made some recordings of a pulsed RF signal using my 3206D MSO and the Picoscope software. I am interested in finding the pulse carrier frequency from this. I am not an expert in signal processing. I would like to know if there is some analysis I can do on the recording to extract this information ? I have waveforms of this same signal with a couple of different time bases. Will that help any ? Also, is the format of the .psdata files available to the public or is it undocumented ?

I would appreciate any help/tips.

Hi Patrick,

Have you tried viewing the data using the Spectrum Analyzer view in the PicoScope 6 software?

If you have data already saved in the psdata format, open the file and right-click in the oscilloscope view. Select Add View -> Spectrum

You will be able to see the frequency components of the signal.

The PicoScope 6 (psdata) file format is proprietary, although you can export the data to .csv, .txt and .mat formats as well as other file types. Note that there is a limitation of just over 1 million samples per channel when exporting to .csv or .txt formats.

I did not know you could spectrum analyze a recording !
