Advice on which data logger to buy

Post by Ian Goulding »

Hi, I am looking for a data logger that can be used in conjunction with a computer and software and will take 10 inputs as follows:
6 pulsed inputs
2 Ascii inputs
2 4-20 mA inputs

If there is no data logger that will accept ascii code inputs, then I would require one with six pulsed inputs and four 4-20 mA inputs.
Thanks

Sarah

Hi

Thank you for your post.

We do not have a logger which accepts Ascii inputs. All of our loggers accept analogue voltage inputs, therefore you would need shunt resistors to measure 4-20mA. With regards the pulse inputs, the compatibility of these will depend on the size of the pulses. Also you should keep in mind that the logger will simply record the voltage levels over a period of time - it cannot respond to pulses as such other than to just measure the voltage input.

For the number of channels you require the ADC-11 might be the best unit as this is an 11 channel unit and with the optional terminal board you can easily add shunt resistors to measure current. The input voltgae range of the unit is 0 to 2.5V so you would need to ensure that this is capatible with your pulses and that recording in an analogue way will not be an issue.

Hope this helps

Best Regards
