Failure due to high ground current

Post by Pabo »

I am using an all in one computer from ASUS which evidently has a huge amount of Y-capacitance in the power supply and this led to a BANG when I connected the probe to the primary side of an AC/DC converter. Both the computer and the Pico scope where connected to the mains through an isolation transformer so I expected it to be fine. The ground current protection relay tripped as well.

But now I cannot connect to the scope through the USB cable. It lits up blue but the computer does not find it. I have tried with a second computer as well but with the same result.

I suppose this requires that I send it in for repair? It is a 6402D.
