Hi Paul,

The PicoScope 2205A (and 2204A) models require the ps2000.dll and corresponding SDK.

Please download the correct SDK from our software downloads page:

http://www.picotech.com/software.html

In step 1, select the PicoScope 2205A and in step 2, select the Software Development Kit option.

Hope this helps.

Here I have uploaded the trace.xml file when I access the PicoScope 2205A with PicoScope 6 software. I see there somewhere that it says that the device cannout be opened because unit has not been found... But the software works fine.

I just don't know why I can't open the device from an outer IDE using ps2000_open_unit().

I finally managed to find the working DLL file! i've replaced the ps2000.dll from the SDK package with the one from the PicoScope 6 application (from C:\Program Files) and IT WORKS!!! But please take care of this for future! The SDK package should be updated with the latest (and WORKING) DLL file!

Hi Paul,

Which version of the SDK/ps2000.dll were you using?

The driver file in the current SDK will work with the PicoScope 2205A.

Please note that you cannot connect to a device from PicoScope 6 if another instance or another application is using the device and vice-versa.

Hi Hitesh,

Sorry, I posted here without seeing your replies. I was using the SDK "PS2000sdk10.5.0.11.zip" extracted from the disc received together with the PicoScope 2205A, and the "ps2000.dll" file (version: 2.0.8.155, size 1,073,424 bytes) within this SDK pack is NOT working with the device (it constantly retrieves the error "PICO_NOT_FOUND").

Instead, I imported the ps2000.dll file (version: 2.1.3.1, size 1,092,400 bytes) that was located in the C:\Program Files\Pico Technology\PicoScope6, and it WORKED!

Is there a SDK version that you recommend me to use? What is the current version of the SDK that supports 2205A for sure?

Thank you for your help!

Best regards,

Paul T.

Hi Paul,

The SDK version 10.5.0.11 was released prior to the launch of the PicoScope 2205A so it looks as though the driver from that SDK would not have recognised the device.

The current ps2000.dll included with the PicoScope 6 release supports the device so you can continue to use that one.

The current release is SDK 10.5.0.32 (with some updated examples) although there is another release that should be available soon.

Hi Hitesh,

I've checked the 10.5.0.32 SDK and it is OK. The ps2000.dll works with my 2205A.

Thank you for your support!

Have a nice day!

I am having the same issue currently - using a PicoScope 2204 and Picolog 6 cannot find it, just constantly says "Searching for devices", however when I load up PicoScope the signal is there. Also my laptop recognises the device as being plugged in, it appears in Device Manager under pico technology. Using a Dell inspiron laptop with Win10 64bit. Thanks for any help.
