Help deciding which Picoscope to purchase

Post by design360 »

Hi,

I'm considering the purchase of an oscilloscope to test the outputs from LED drivers as a way of monitoring, fault finding and general comparison of different makes etc. I have been using an old 20Mhz Hameg of 1980's vintage but a digital one would be much more useful.

I have no idea what maximum bandwidth would be suitable but I'm guessing not that high as we aren't talking high frequencies here other than being able to see harmonics on the outputs. How big a memory size is a useful size without having more than I'm likely to need? Sample rates, what would be useful to have for the nature of the work it will need to do?

I'm thinking that the 25Mhz verison of the 2200 (2205A) would fulfill my needs but would I be better off with the 2206A with it's much higher sample rate and twice the memory? I don't think I need to go to the 100Mhz or 200Mhz versions, do I?

Regards, Ian.

The 2205A should be OK for this requirement.
