ADC 16 - ADC 22

Post by DFR »

We have been pleased with using ADC16 units to monitor our customers machines and would now like to monitor all the machines in our own new lab. This would reuire up to 100 channels to monitor the required parameters.

Would the ADC 22 be suitable, giving the same performance as the ADC 16?

Also could we run 5 ADC 22 cards to give us enough channels?

Hi

Thank you for your post.

There are some differences between the ADC-16 and the ADC-22 which you would need to keep in mind and ensure that these won't affect the results.

The main difference is that the ADC-16 is a 16 bit unit and the ADC-22 is only a 10 bit unit. The other difference is that the ADC-16 takes an input voltage of ±2.5V while the ADC-22 is only 0 to 2.5V. The ADC-22 is a parallel interfaced unit as opposed to a serial one.

You could potentially use 5 units together, however you would probably need to use some on USB to Parallel port adaptors. Please note that only our adaptors work with our products. It might be an idea to use the units spread across more than one PC to make the load on the PC easier.

The other thing to be noted is that Picolog will only display 16 channels at a time in the graph and spreadsheet views, so if you wanted to view data from all the channels at once you would need to export the data.

Hope this helps

Best Regards
