Record with PicoScope 6.

Post by jpwevana2 »

I'm trying to record the behavior of safety relays over the course several seconds, with various interruptions in between.

Basically, I'm doing this:

-On for 1s
-Off for 1s
-On for X time (adjusted)
-Off until 3 seconds has elapsed.

I have a PLC program to mimic this, amongst others.

Originally, in PicoLog, I had a trigger on CH5, in which the PLC would send a signal to start recording. Then it would record, reset, record another cycle, reset, etc. So I would get 20+ different files saved, incrimenting the X time for each file.

However, PicoLog struggled to keep up. I was told that PicoScope 6 was recommended instead, but I'm not sure how to "record" in a similar fashion, where I can trigger the recording, and where I can see a whole cycle start to finish without it continuing to record.

Hi jpwevana2,

I presume you are using a PicoLog 1012 or 1216.

You could use the Repeat trigger feature to capture a single waveform each time the device is triggered. This would mean that the timebase would be fixed across all captures unless you stop the captures and manually change the timebase.

I hope this helps.
