Square vave signal output

Post by Resires »

I have the following problem with the logger PICOLOG 1216

I need to generate the output square wave signal with a frequency of about 2 seconds.

I would like to use one of the digital outputs.
The only thing I can find it on continuously 1 or 0 (2.5 V or 0 V) or PWM frequency 1.8 ms. It's definitely not enough. How can I increase the frequency?

I have two additional questions:

1) I need to make measurement in 30 points. I bought two PicoLogs 1216. Can I run them in one software? At this moment i try run two same programs in different windows, but disadvantage of this solution is time differential between my measurement. (For example i click start measurement in one window, and then in second window measurement is starting one second later).

2) Can I connect PicoLog to LabView or DasyLab?

You can run two Picolog 1216s under the Picolog software but not the Picoscope software. Just tick the appropriate box for multiple devices when creating a new setup.

There is an llb file for LabvIew in the SDK, download this from http://www.picotech.com/software.html

Unfortunately, I don't see on my CD instalation option for two PicoLogs running in the same time.

I have only:

Install PicoScope 6
Install PicoLog
Install PicoScope 9000
Install PicoScope Education

Install Picolog software. Then when you run one instance of Picolog, and create a new settings file, you can select the "Multiple Devices" option before specifying the devices and what is connected to each channel.

I have only those options, which you can see on the picture I have uploaded.

There are no "Multiple devices" option before this screen.

I am choosing "PicoLog 1000 Series" and still have only one device running.

You are right. Now I can run two PicoLogs at the same time.

1) But there is a trouble with number of channels. I have to measure humidity in 30 points. When I try to export data to "View graph" - maximum is 20.
When I try to export data to "View spreadsheet" - maximum is 16.

So the only way is export data in two smaller groups? I want to export the to excel.

2) Is there any posible way to set 2.5 V on Digital Output when I start recording measurement, and set 0 V when it's not recording? It would be great for information, that the record have ended.

3) I found only this math functions:
( ) - + * / exp log10 ln power mod sqrt

Is there any chance for use (in calbulated parameters):
round()
if()
previous_sample()
?

1. They are the limits for the spreadsheet and graph views, you can use File->SaveAs to save the data file as a CSV file for import into excel.

2 & 3. Unfortunately it is not possible to set/clear a digital output in response to starting/stopping capture, or add new maths functions. The software is now maintenance only so no enhancements are on the development plan.

I have another question about working with two PicoLogs.

I had to connect Grounds of both devices. It's working correct.
But the real question is - can I connect pin named 2.5V of both devices?

I have a sensor, which should be powered sometimes from 1 PicoLog, and sometimes from 2 PicoLog.

Are both Picologs active all the time ?
Are they connected to the same PC ?

If one unit powered down it would load the 2.5V rail of the other, dragging it down, which would then affect the readings from the sensor.

Both Picologs are active all the time and they are connected to the same PC.

And my (probably) last question:
What could happen if someone will connect pins named 2.5V and GDN? Has PicoLog some kind of fuse? Is it replaceable?

The ground pins are protected by resettable fuses which will automatically reset when the voltage source is
disconnected from the input pin.
