Assembling probe tips

Post by vin »

I don't consider myself a novice, or entirely stupid, when it comes to oscilloscopes, but I am struggling to assemble the tips onto the probes of my recently purchased Picoscope 3204 MSO.

When using the clamp tip the probe is not retained inside but keeps falling out. There are two small yellow collars provided with the probes and I did wonder whether they are to provide friction when the probe is pushed in but don't want to get them stuck if they are not. (The other option is they are for clipping on the cable to identify the channels?)

Any advice appreciated.

The yellow collars are for identification of cables.

The hook tips should have sufficient retention not to fall off, but to release easily if pulled, is the hook coming out correctly.

The hook is coming out correctly when pushed, however the hook tip does not have sufficient retention and just falls off unless it is being held. There are two sets of leads/tips and this is the case with both, although one is just about usable.
