Frequency measurements

Post by Angus »

I need to read frequency to 1Hz the current display reads 65.53KHz how do i get the extra digit?
I.e. i need it to read 65.536KHz
Is there an option to set the number of digits displayed anywhere
Thanks
Angus

Hi Angus,
Thank you for your suggestion, however this is not something that we will be implementing in the near future. I have forwarded your suggestion to our developers.

Kind regards

Also there is this need for ...
Can make the possibility of forced choice (Hz, kHz, ...)

I've requested a similar change before. With the 4262, you have 16-20bit resolution, but only 4 digit readout. All that resolution is just wasted in this case. Making the readout digits adjustable should be a no brainer, my handyscope has it since 2005.

Whether it is necessary to hope for the emergence of a frequency counter?

Frequency measurement can be performed using Maths Channels for all scopes, or in hardware on one channel for some scopes in the 4000 range.

How to use math channel perform at 3000 series?

A maths channel for frequency can be added from

Tools->MathsChannels->Create->Next->Advanced

selecting freq and the channel that you wish to look at. When set up make sure you tick the newly created channel and then apply and it will appear on screen.

So graphics Hz/Time with an accuracy of plus or minus bus stop. How to get the value of the digits (for example 8192003 Hz)?

You can apply measurements to the created maths channel to get a numeric value.

What menu item you need to choose to get a numeric value ?

You could try peak, or average, for the whole trace, or between cursors.

It really depends upon the actual signals you are looking at, I would suggest experimenting with different measurements to see what results you get.

All measurements "minimized" kHz or MHz, as see the value in Hz (for example 8192003 Hz, and not 8,19 MHz)?

Unfortunately that is currently the best that can be achieved using the PicoScope6 software. The alternative would be to write your own application using the sdk and perform frequency counting in code.
