ADC-20 and terminal board proper connection

Post by moe bull »

I intend using my ADC-20 to record data from 8 accelerometer sensors. The sensors require an excitation voltage of 24V, which I intend to supply using a 24V adapter connected to the mains supply. The output of the sensors are -5 to +5V. I intend to connect two 5k ohm resistors in the potential divider circuit for each channel. Is this sufficient? In addition, how do I connect the sensors to the AG on the terminal board, etc. What scaling would I have to use when processing the data?

Hi,
The ADC-20 & ADC-24 loggers are not compatible with the accelerometers your describe (IEPE accelerometers), because the loggers are far too slow to respond to the high frequencies measured. The loggers can only respond to a few Hz at most.

What you require is one of our dedicated IEPE oscilloscopes and matching IEPE accelerometers:-
http://www.picotech.com/picoscope4224IE ... tions.html
http://www.picotech.com/picoscope4000-a ... html#TA095

This two channel scope can accept input from any IEPE compliant accelerometer and it can also supply the necessary power to energise it.
Please contact me again if you have any other questions.
Regards,
PeterF.
