Vertical Resolution of 12-Bit 4224 Model
Myself and my collegue are currently trying to understand the source of the signal noise displayed on our 4224 Picoscope.
We have tried the following tests:
meausurment scale -10 to +10v
Device BNC connected - Peak to peak noise 38mV
Probe BNC connected - P-P 38mV
BNC disconnected - P-P 38mV
Laptop Power supply and BNC disconnected - P-P 38mV
For a full 12-bit signal I would expect to see 2^12 parts or 4.9mV resolution from a 20V measrment window.
With a peak to peak noise level of 38mV, the true resolution appears to only ~9-bit.
Is this normal for the Picoscope Anologue to Digital converter?

That would be within the working parameters of the scope, and is the gaussian noise inherent in the signal and the scope. You can clean up the signal by filtering, or applying resolution enhancement, both selectable from the channel options button in the Picoscope software.
