I bought a pico scope 2205 mso a few days ago and it seems that the advanced triggers don't work, actually no trigger seems to work other than the simple edge. I tried several settings, both channel A and B, nothing seems to work. I am not new to oscilloscopes, but never used a PC based one before, so maybe I am doing something wrong.
So here is my setup:
- The test signal is generated by the AWG of the scope, it is set to arbitrary waveform in bit-stream mode it generates the following sequence 111001010000 ( so we have a wide pulse at the beginning and some smaller pulses, what I'd like is to trigger only on the wide pulse (f=1Khz,A=1V,offs= 0V), the first wide pulse has +width of ~130us, the small ones ~40us)
- Channel A, auto-range, DC, the AWG output is probed
- 100us/div, 33.33MS/s
-Trigger setup: Source:A, pulse direction:+, condition: greater than, threshold 800mV, hyst:3%, time 100uS
- trigger mode repeat
EDIT: - trigger type: pulse width
Expected result: scope triggers on the wide pulse
Actual result: no trigger, it fails to trigger if the time parameter !=0s
Here is my scope data:
PicoScope® 6 - PC Oscilloscope software version: 6.6.46.1 (windows 7, 64bit intel 2600k)
Model: PicoScope 2205 MSO
Calibration Date: Monday, February 27, 2012
Hardware Version: 1
Driver Version: 1.0.0.186
Firmware Version: 1.1.0.0 / 0.2.2.0
Am I doing something wrong?
Can AWG and advanced trigger be used at the same time?
Is this a known bug? Can it be fixed with a new firmware? Is my scope defective?
Please help, I am very frustrated that this doesn't work, it should be pretty basic stuff.
Thank you for the quick reply.
I tried with the file from attachment and now all trigger modes work, still some trouble with the ETS.
I tried various combinations pulse width >,<, ><,+,-, window, all work as expected.
But still ETS doesn't seem to work, I tried to probe a 20Mhz crystal oscillator, but no trigger in ETS.
The signal is stable, no noise or jitter.
Any news regarding the ETA trigger/sampling on 2205 MSO?
It is quite disappointing that the scope doesn't deliver the promised features.
Right out of the box it doesn't work not with the provided SW, nor with the latest versions from the pico site.
If you download the beta version of Picoscope from http://labs.picotech.com and take the 2000a dll from the install directory it should have this fixed. I can't test it as the release was only put up recently and I am not back in the office until the New Year.
sorry for the late reply, I just wanted to confirm that everything works now as expected.
I appreciate your support.
For your information
I am overall satisfied with the product, I had this scope for my own personal use, and now I recommended also at my workplace as a good alternative to classic oscilloscopes, we already bought a few and pan to buy more in the future.
It seems that the problem is not solved afterall.
I had to reinstall picosoft and now i have all the problems i've described in the first post.
This problem was fixed in some dll version(provided in the forum) but it seems that the correction was not included in newer sw releases.
I have tried all the currently available pico sw 6.6, 6.9 and the lab version, none of it works (as is or with the dll from the forum post).
I know this worked with the original sw, 6.6.4 something and the patched dll.
Can you make older versions of picoscope available or fix this problem in the new/current version (preferably both).
It is sad that the sw has so many problems it would be such a nice scope otherwise.
