PLW Recording via 3204A

Post by Don »

Under "settings, converter details" I nominate PicoScope 3000 series from the "converter type" drop down, but "OK" results in "no unit has been selected".
As the port is greyed out (I was expecting to nominate the channel) and no USB devices are offered (yet the 3204 is connected and works fine as a scope) there appears to be nothing further I can do to select a unit.

The 3204a is one of our new 3000 series scopes and will not work with Picolog.

OK - thanks.
I would like to use rapid mode triggering to avoid gaps between waveforms, but although it is listed as possible in the data sheet, it isn't offered in the trigger menu.

You will need to select 1ms/div or quicker in Picoscope for the Rapid Trigger Mode option to appear in the drop down options. There will still be a gap in data between blocks although this will be much smaller than normal block mode.

Hi there,

i have also a 3204A and im learning to walk with it at the moment.
I saw that Picolog is not working.
Is it possible in another way to store/record more data from the scope?
Can i do this with the PicoScope 6 - Software?

Thanks, Bob

You may wish to look at using the alarms fetaure and saving data on buffers full or similar. Full details can be seen in the following video on our tv channel http://www.picoscope.tv/general/using-alarms.html

Thanks so far,

thats a helpfull option. So i can see for longer time if a regular signal is going to be irregular.
But do i have the possibility to store a signal for about a few minutes and take a look afterwards
how the signal was acting during this time.

Greetings Bob

What sampling interval do you wish to use ?

I would suggest trying our Beta software http://labs.picotech.com/#psw6 setting the "Collection Time" to something like 200 s/div, approximately 33minutes plus for the screen, and importantly set the "Number of Samples" upto the maximum. Right click on the display and select "View Properties" and you will see exactly what scope settings have been selected.

The trace will stream very slowly across the screen and not look very clear, however you can zoom in to see the data in more detail once the capture is complete.

Hope this helps.
