temp and humidity in fossil wood

Post by jenyoung »

Hi,
I am working on a conservation project at Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument. We are attempting to track and ultimately prevent further damage to the petrified trees here. These petrified redwood trees have numerous cracks and fissures in them and we would like to place a data logger into one or more of the these cracks as well as one outside the tree(s) in an effort to track the temperature and humidity changes within the trees compared to out in the open. We are looking for the most cost-efficient option as well as the most reliable one. We would like to sample once an hour for a year at a time. Any help or suggestions that you may have would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Thank you for your email.

We do have a system that can monitor temperature and humidity and the sampling period can be set up during configuration. This is the Enviromon System, it consists of Logger (EL005), converters (EL026) and sensors (EL030 Humidity and temperature).

However, the sensor in this case is approximately 20 mm in diameter. If you consider this suitable please see the specifications and details available at:

http://www.picotech.com/enviromon.html

Once you have looked over the Enviromon details I will be most happy to answer any questions you may have.

Best regards,
Regards,
