2 4424's - want to record all 8 channels

Post by KnowFear »

Hi - I am looking at purchasing a pair of 4424 scopes for our project.

Here is what I want to do:

Sample all 8 channels at 500 kB/sec
Record several seconds to a few minutes of data to disk
Would prefer accurate time stamping for all 8 channels (but could insert our own timing signal if required)
Would prefer a single button "Start/Stop" for all 8 channels

Is this possible? What pico software would I use? Will I need to get my programmer to write a custom app?

thanks - Dave

Hi Dave,

You would have to write your own application using the PicoScope 4000 Series Software Development Kit in order to achieve what you are looking to do. Time information isn't returned from the driver so you would probably have to have your own timing signal.

It is worth downloading the SDK from our website (http://www.picotech.com/software.html) and taking a look at the programmer's guide.

By 500kB/sec do you mean 500 kilosamples?

Hi - thanks for the quick reply.

Yes, I mean 500 kSamps/sec

If we remove the requirement for time stamped data, is there a standard Pico software that would read and record the 2 4424 samplers?

Hi,

You can use the PicoScope 6 software but it requires one instance of the software per device, and you would not be able to synchronise data capture.

You can use the save on trigger feature to save data files but it will save multiple data files:

Hope this helps.

That will work just fine for us.

Thanks - dB
