Strip chart recorder

Post by dreiley »

Using the PicoScope 6402 and software version 6.3.43.0, in spectrum mode, I'm trying to log many measurements of "Average amplitude at peak." What is the best way to do this?

You are using an outdated version of the Picoscope software and I would suggest updating to the latest version R6.5.80 which you can download from http://www.picotech.com/software.html or alternatively the Beta release from http://labs.picotech.com/

Adjacent to the "Spectrum Mode" button is a "Spectrum Options" button if you select this and then "Display Options" you will find the Average setting. Finally you can choose "File->SaveCurrentWaveformAs" and then save the file as a txt or csv to save the average values.

Thanks for the quick reply, but this solution doesn't achieve what I'm looking for. I'd like a single file that contains the average amplitude at a particular frequency, with each row in the file containing the amplitude at this frequency for a subsequent scan, as determined by the trigger, not my intervention with a mouse click.

You could use

Tools->Alarms->"Event=Capture"->Add->"Action=SaveCurrentBuffer"

to automatically save the data on capture to a csv or txt file. You will need to set the display to spectrum mode as previously described so that it shows what you are trying to save.
