USB ADC-11 and Windows 7

Post by iam »

Will the USB ADC-11 work under Windows 7 ?

If so, which driver should be used ?

Many Thanks

Hi Ziko,

Thank you for your reply.

I downloaded the latest drivers (SDK) and I have attempted to install them using the manual method as indicated in the PICOreadme.txt:

########################################################
Before using the examples with the Parallel or USB Port, kernel
drivers must be installed. The simples way to install the kernel
drivers is to install PicoScope or PicoLog. Instructions on manually
installing these drivers is as follows:

1) USB drivers
Copy picopp.inf to \inf
Copy picopp.sys to \system32\drivers
Plug the device in and follow the new hardware wizard.

2) Parallel port drivers
Copy pico.sys to \system32\drivers
use regdrive with the pico option to install the driver service:
c:\> regdrive.exe pico

####################################################

Note: I only did stage 1) USB Drivers

However, when I plug in the USB ADC-11 the system has to use Windows Update to load the drivers?
Is the above manual method still applicable with Windows 7 ?

Also, my Delphi application uses UsbAdc11 driver calls, does the UsbAdc11.dll have any dependency on the Adc11.dll ?

Kind Regards

Hi Ziko,

I have tried using the PicoLOG software installation on a windows XP system and I have discovered that the UsbAdc11.dll supplied with this is 1.0.7.0, whereas the SDK version is 1.0.4.0. Also, the application I wrote a couple of years ago uses UsbAdc11.dll version 1.0.3.0 and uses the UsbAdc11 interface calls.

Have these changed in the new version ?

Thanks

Hi Iam,

Are you having problems with getting the unit to work? Have you tried using it? Or are you just enquiring what the difference is?

Kind regards

Hi Ziko,

Yes, I have had problems getting the hardware to work with my Delphi application.

The application worked prior to my upgrading to the latest driver as you suggested earlier in this thread. However, I wish to install the driver only without the PicoScope/PicoLog software. I used the manual method to attempt to install the driver under Windows7 and the application hung the machine (but did detect the Usb device).

So, I installed PicoLog to perform a driver installation on a windows XP system to ensure the driver is being installed properly. The application would not work on the XP system (hung again) however until I re-compiled it with an older version of the UsbAdc11.dll which worked.

We have a customer who wishes to use our software on a windows7 system. Do you have a DPInst.exe for the Usb ADC-11 pico (similar to the PicoLog 1000 series) that could be distributed for installation along with our application?

Kind Regards

Hi are you using a 32 bit or 64 bit OS?

Also can you try installing the PicoLog software to see if you are having the same problem?

DPinst is not available for the ADC11 as this is for winusb.

Kind regards

Thanks Ziko,

I have installed the latest picolog software with Usb Adc-11 drivers on a Windows7 32-bit machine.

To get my software to work, I then revert to the older version of the UsbAdc11.dll (the newer version of the dll will not work with my software - perhaps the UsbAdc11 calls have been deprecated in favour of the Adc11 calls?).

I realise, since installing PicoLog that the Usb Adc-11 device will not work under Windows7 64-bit.
