Funny graphics in zoom mode

Post by CoyoteDavid »

I get some strange graphics updates of my waveform when I am in zoom mode on my 3424 (using 6.5.42 on XP). To reproduce, just capture a 500 kHz to 1 MHz square wave at 200 uS/div with 50k samples, then zoom to X8. Now move your mouse over the square at the lower left (or lower right, depending on where they were) to get the cursor (do not click). Note that you get some new lines on your waveform! You don't even have to click the mouse to do it. It appears that when the little window pops up showing the location of the cursor, it also adds some random graphics to the waveform.

Hi CayoteDavid,

I cannot recreate this problem, can you use a programme like Jing to do a video capture and then past me the link?

I have uploaded a video of this problem:
http://screencast.com/t/ICv0gLLdJF

I played with it some more, and have some clarification to get it to happen. I had not mentioned steps 4 and 5 before, but they must be done to get it to happen. Setup as follows:
1) 500 kHz square wave.
2) 200 uS/Div.
3) x8 or x16 horizontal zoom.
4) put both cursors on the screen.
5) Scroll left or right to shift both cursors off screen.
6) Move cursor over the small cursor square on the left or right side of the screen (depending on which way you moved). You do not have to click the mouse, just hover over the small square to get the box showing the cursor location.

Also, my properties window on the right seems to have gotten narrow, and I can't seem to make it as wide as it used to be.

Sometimes the cursor popup box appears way off the window, as opposed to right on top of the cursor location.

Hi,

I have finally managed to recreate the drawing problem, it is quite subtle. I have put this through to our software engineers.

Kind regards
