Error message

Post by Haddad »

My Enviromon system was running perfectly, but today I started it and it is not displaying any information on any of the parameters and it shows an error warning with the message " logger is not running , re-programme logger to restart it " , is displayed .What could be the cause of the problem? does loading default settings solve it?
please reply ASAP

Hmmm, this could be due to a number of reasons. It could be a communication problem.

Are you using it on a laptop or PC? Are you using a USB to serial converter?

I'm connecting the logger to my PC through a serial to USB converter, if you please can you list all the reasons that might cause this problem, I'm not a new user, i've been using pico products for a year now, so a list would be helpful for solving future problems.
Thanks

Hi,

A number of things you need to take into account,

1) The computer you initially configured the device on is the same computer (or at least has the same settings file)

2) If you are using a USB to serial converter, then you need to make sure that the COM port number has not changed. As if you plugged it into a different USB port the COM port number may change. Can you check in device manager to see what the COM port number is?

Check this first and we will take it further from then.

The Com Port number has not changed, but let me ask you this, if it did change shouldn't the software display the: "Logger not found on COM #" message? or it might show the error message i told you about before?

Thanks

Hi,

You are correct that I just want to go through everything really. The message you are getting is because some configuration has changed, without updating the logger.

Is this the same PC you can configured the logger on? Is the clock ok on the computer you are using?

Kind regards

Apparently all the problem was caused by the serial to USB converter, I got another one and connected the logger through it, now everything is working properly again.

Thank you very much for your help

Well I'm glad to see it works now, some USB to serial converters don't work well with our products.
