Installation of PicoScope 6.x for 2000 models

Post by prosa »

The installation of any package from v. 6.4.64 does not complete for my PS2205 oscilloscope. It fails near the end without any error message.

I logged the whole installation messages into a file and I discovered that the package fails into the following custom action:
PicoCustomAction: Calling DPInst.exe with command line: C:\Program Files\Pico Technology\PicoScope6\System\dpinst.exe /SA /A /D /SW
Fine operazione 20:02:48: InstallFinalize. Valore restituito 3.
Operazione 20.02.48: Rollback. È in corso il ripristino dello stato precedente la seguente azione:
Rollback: DIFxInstall.E0974C32_BF4F_4396_84B8_FDDC449BEB09
That means the driver could not be installed. I extracted the files picopp.* from the package trying to discover the installation bug.
It seems the manifest picopp.inf was buggy on the following lines:

Code: Select all

[PS2000.Dev.NT]
; copyfiles commented out for Win2K to avoid user intervention during install
; CopyFiles=PICOPP.Files.Ext, PICOPP.Files.Inf
;^^ Uncomment the above line ^^
AddReg=PS2000.AddReg

[PS2000.Dev.NT.Services]
Addservice = PICOPP, 0x00000002, PICOPP.AddService
;^^ AddService directive, case sensitive ^^
After the changes the driver could be installed correctly, even if the driver signature was broken.

But I still cannot install the whole package because I cannot skip the custom action executed into the package.

I hope it helps Pico fixing the problem.

Hi I have forwarded this to our software engineer, he is on leave at the moment but will look into it when he is back. I will keep you informed of the progress.

In the meantime, there is a new software available at the moment can you try installing this to see if you are still encountering the same problem?

Kind regards
