I am looking to buy two oscilloscopes to be used in the field. The oscilloscopes will be connected to a laptop. One of the oscilloscopes will be 100m away and connected to the laptop through Ethernet. The second oscilloscope can be connected through USB. I need also to generate a sinusoidal signal, 1-10KHz. I need only one analog channel for each oscilloscope. My options are PicoScope 3206 or BitScope 325N oscilloscopes.
Questions:
1 - Can I use a USB to EThernet hub with PicoScope 3206?
2 - Can I use the signal generator and spectrum analyzer in the same time? (BitScope cannot)
3 - Can I use the PicoScope 6 for both oscilloscopes (running only one instance)?
4 - Why to choose PicoScope and not BitScope?
2) The 3206 can generate a sine wave of up to 1MHz. You can use the signal generator at the same time as the spectrum view.
3)You would need to run two instances of PicoScope, one for each unit (you do this by just running PicoSocpe again with the existing installation)
4) I cannot comment on other manufacturers, however I can say that our software is easy to use and offers great flexibility. We constantly add features to our software, for example, CAN bus decoding and I2C, mask testing, reference waveforms and so on. In terms of hardware we have a wide range of products that cover most budgets. We also offer free technical support and software updataes.
The 3206 specification is as follows:
200MHz bandwidth.
200MS/s sample rate
1MS buffer memory
8 bits res in a number of voltage ranges, from +/-100mV to +/-20V.
Signal Generator functionality, Sine,Square, Triangle up to 1MHz
You may also be interested in the 4227 oscilloscope which is a newer oscilloscope with the following spec:
100MHz bandwidth
250MS/s sample rate
32MS buffer memory
12 bit res in a number of voltage ranges.
AWG (Arbitrary wavefrom generator) up to 100kHz for standard waveforms (you can generate your own customer waveforms)
Yu can download our software and run it in demo mode (with no device plugged in). Which means that if you wanted to show someone the waveform from one of your captures, you can send it to someone who does not have one of our scopes and open the file after installing our software on their computer free of charge.
