PicoScope 2203
Software 6.6.20.0

When the host PC software is upgraded does that upgrade the firmware in the PicoScope hardware. I am using the PicoScope to take measurments from electronic equipment being burst noise transient testing. The higher level of transient testing seems to cause malfunctions in the picoscopes hardware and sometimes causes the host computer to crash. What is the best way to protect the picoscope and the computer from the adverse affects.

Hi,
Yes, the scope firmware is updated by the PicoScope6 program automatically when required.
If you are getting problems with the scope/PC crashing when using high level burst transients, add a few Ferrite rings to the scope probe leads and the USB lead. Either use clip-on split rings our larger solid Ferrite rings so that the leads can be looped through the coils 2 or 3 times. The rings will stop common-mode noise travelling up the leads.

PeterF.
