Refresh speed

Post by nickk622 »

Hi
Does the refresh speed of the Pico Scope GUI total depend on the processing speed of the host PC.

Hi yes it does depend on the CPU speed and your graphics card. The capture rate and the refresh rate are locked together.

Hope this helps.

Not specifically refresh but related I think ...

Could you do something about the response time when stopping
one capture - clearing the display - and restarting a new capture?

It usually takes 4 - 5 seconds for the new capture to start
and sometimes it just doesn't start and the button needs to be re-clicked. It is quite irritating.

I'm using the latest Picoscope download on an Intel Duo machine running at 2.5Ghz with 4Gb ram - I think that should be fast enough?

Also the on screen button could be a bit bigger and maybe better placed?

cheers

Hi John, this is a different question.

What device are you using?
How many samples do you have across the screen?

Kind regards

Hi Ziko

I use a 4224.
Just a simple square wave - maybe 30 cycles of about 600uS
pulse width variable by about 20%. About 3 sets captured. Nothing too large I don't think unless I'm doing something wrong or just badly.

Can you think of anything I may not be doing that could cause this? I notice no one else has mentioned this so it could well be me.

I usually set for falling trigger +/- 5V and various timescales
with repeat capture on.

Its no big deal - just a bit irritating.

John,

Based on the fact that you are only getting three captures in the buffer, I would guess that your sample rate is very high. Check the properties tab to see. You can probably turn that down quite a bit. This would result in much faster updates and many more captures in the buffer.

Hi John,

Like Tom says this could be your settings really if you can send your psdata file that would be great.

Kind regards

Sorry to take so long to respond.
I've turned down the rate as Tom suggested - this seems to have
done the trick. Thanks to all.
