ADC-212 Virtual Instrument and Wireless Network

Post by Don Lloyd »

I have a number of ADC-212 Virtual Instruments attached to personal computers that I want to connect to a wireless network. I am unable to connect them and it appears that the ADC-212 software is causing the problem. Any suggestions on how to make this work?

We are using Buffalo wireless nic model number WLI-PCI-G300N and a ProCurve Radio Port 230.

Hi Don,

Are you saying that the Pico device is stopping your Wifi adapter or are you trying to log through the wireless connection?

The Pico device/software is stopping the wifi adapter from connecting to the wireless network.

That is a bit strange are you sure it is the 212? How is the 212 connected to the PC? Is it using a PicoParallel adatper or is it using a standard LPT port?

It looks like it is attached through a standard parallel port. How would I tell if it was attached using PicoParallel adapter?

The Pico Parallel adapter is a USB device, that connects a Parallel device into a USB port. So you must not be using this. It is strange to be honest. Can you try leaving the device connected to the parallel port (keeping the software closed) and then trying to use your Wifi adapter? Then try firing up the software and seeing if this causes a problem.

More information--

• The computers are locking up when they are on the wireless network and the Pico software is running. They have to be rebooted to get them working again.
• When the computers are hardwired to the network they do not lock up when the Pico software is running.
• The computers do not lock up when they are on the wireless network and the Pico software is not running.

Hi unfortunately it is one of those things where we cannot account for every combination of hardware. We do not make any changes to PicoScope 5 any more.

We are pretty sure that the issue is the wireless NIC that is causing the problem. Do you know of a wireless NIC that works with the ADC-212? I am confident that there are a number that do. I want to be fairly confident that the wireless NIC that I purchase will work.
