Roll mode?

Post by MrGnome »

I have been using my3206 scope for a couple of years. When I used to go below 200mS/div, the scope would drop into roll mode, or what you call continuous sampling mode. Any which way, the trace was continuously updated.

I have updated the software to Picoscope 6, and I find that it no longer does this, in fact slow sampling times are practicly unusable! When I tried fumbling about in the options, it says continuous sampling is not available on this oscilloscope. It used to work, what am I doing wrong!

ear MrGnome,

Thankyou for your inquiry with regard to your 3206 using PicoScope 6.

In normal (fast) sampling mode, PicoScope collects enough data to fill the scope view, then redraws the whole view at once. This method is suitable for fast timebases, when the whole process repeats many times each second, but with slow timebases it can cause a unacceptable delay between the start of capture and the data appearing on the screen. To avoid this delay when using slow timebases, PicoScope Six automatically switches to slow sampling mode.

The 320x series will not facilitate streaming (slow speeds) and therefore your best option would be to use PicoScope 5 if you require the chart mode functionality.

Please proceed to the following link and download PicoScope 5
