picoscope6 crashes on xp64 SP2 (all releases)

Post by GiladO »

When the scope (3224) is connected via the usb port, the system identifies it and loads its driver. Picoscope 5 informs that the scope is not connected even though the OS has recognized it and installed its driver. All the releases of Picoscope 6, I have downloaded, crash as soon as they are run.
My system must have a 64 OS and excluding Unix variants, I don't intend to install a 32 bit version of Windows. Other than installing Windows 7, is there any way of getting the instrument to operate on XP64?

Hi,
There is a Microsoft issue with 64 bit XP but we do have a work-around.
Please use the latest version available of PicoScope6:-
http://www.picotech.com/software.html

Here is the detail:-

XPx64 and 2003x64 Issues
You will need to download and install .net2.0 x64 (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en)
You will also need to copy the winusb.dll file to:- %windir%\SysWOW64.

I attach the winusb.dll file as a zip. Sorry about the hassle, it is a Microsoft problem about updating XP 64 bit drivers and we can't do it automatically, so I am told!
Regards,
PeterF.

I can't install the dot net package (XP64 SP2), but the winusb.dll did fix the problem and PicoScope 6 does find my device.
Thanks

I have tried all above, but still the software does not detect the hardware. Can you advise me what to do further?
Regards,

P.S. the page said that my username is already in use (yes, i have used it before),but what is the purpose of a username if you can use it only once ;) ?

Hi,
Best if you come over to Help-desk so I can go through what the problem can be:-
support@picotech.com
As for your username, are you trying to re-register when you just need to log-in?

My experience was similar to tibur.

I just re-installed winxp64  on an old PC and, after getting everything updated from MS, I could not get Picoscope to find any device.

Putting the winusb.dll file in the c:\WINDOWS\SysWOW64 dir was all I had to do (I also restarted but not sure if that was actually required).

Yeah! It works!
