Swept frequency measurement

Post by g4egj »

Hi:

I have an external sweep generator and I want to measure the response of a ladder type crystal filter around 12 Mhz. I know how to do this with a conventional sa and tracking generator (Sweeper), but how do I do it with my picoscope. Essentially I suppose I want to sample for the period of the sweep.

Thanks

Paul McKee

Hi Paul,
Set your sweep generator so do a slow sweep over the required frequencies. Set the PicoScope to "Spectrum mode" and a frequency upper limit at the top end of your sweep. In "Spectrum Options" select "Peak Hold", your required type of spectrum & number of "Bins" to give the required resolution. Set the generator and scope running together and stop the scope at the end of the sweep. Some experimentation will give the best results.
Regards,
PeterF.
