Temperature measurement with ADC-11

Post by Tomo »

Hello,
I have been loaned the use of an ADC-11 which I would like to use to measure several temperatures- can you please recommend a sensor that is suitable for this that gives the required 0-2.5V signal? I understand ideally I would use a thermocouple system for this, but I am trying to keep the cost of this investigation to a minimum.

The temperature range is roughly between 0-100 degrees C

Thanks very much.

Hi,
You cannot easily use a thermocouple with the ADC-11 unless you build a "Cold Junction compensation amplifier". Best to use a thermistor & load resistor for each channel you want. You will need to provide also an external +2.5V supply. You should be able to calculate the relationship between temperature and voltage and input that into a scaling file to give a temperature reading. Please see the ADC-11 terminal board manual for details:-
