ADC200/100 + PP196 + 64 bit OS

Post by RCBasher »

Couldn't find an answer to this any where, so may be someone here will know please?

I would like to run my ADC200 on a Windows 7 64 bit PC if possible. From what I can see, only USB products are supported with 64 bit drivers. If I purchase the PP196 USB/Parallel adaptor, does this then make the ADC200 look like a USB 'scope and will it then be supported in 64 bit Windows?

If not, will the PP196 and Picoscope s/w work in a Windows Virtual PC XPVM? So far, I tried to connect straight to the ADC200 on the parallel port from the XPVM, but the s/w would not see the 'scope.

Unfortunately the parallel port adapter is not compatible with Vista and 7 64 bit OSs. I cannot comment on the Virtual PC machine really. Is there anyone out there who has tried this?

Kind regards

Thanks for your reply Ziko. It is a pity, but at least I haven't spent money on the PP196 to find this out!

I have used my ADC200/100 on and off over the last 10 years on my various hobby stuff, but there's no way to justify a new equivalent (about £700 with VAT).

My plan B is to build an XP PC out of old bits I have so I can continue to use the 'scope, but it will be a pain to have a second PC and monitor taking up space just for this :(

Maybe someone here has had success in a VM?
