I have a HeathKit weather station that I want to record the output from. It has a 25 pin parallel interface bus connection. It has a clock speed of 720 microsec. At each tick of the clock, it sends a digital code for one of the 15 LED digits displayed on the front and a digital code for the seven segments of the LED. I only need to record the data every 15 minutes but it must be able to read the 720 microsec pulse. I would like a standalone device that records the data internally and then is physically transfered through a USB connection to a PC where the data is analyzed.

Does Pico have a product that meets this specification? Oh, did I say it's got to be cheap?!!

Hi Doug,

Our products do not decode any digital signals and just purely measure a voltage really. If however you wish to write your own software you can achieve this.

I still do not 100% understand your query are you actually trying to decode a digital signal?

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I want to decode the digital signal from the 25 pin bus but I can decode it with software if I can get a file where each record is a 25 bit word of voltage values (or can be as little as 14 bits since I don't need all the info contained in the 25 bits) . Each 25 bit word would be the results of the status of the 25 pins during a 720 microsec pulse (results are either zero voltage or a voltage of about 3V). Ideally, I would want to record 15 words consecutively, every 720 microsec and then wait 15 minutes for another series. If I can't record 15 words consecutively, I could gather data over, say 1-2 minutes at whatever rate is possible. However, since the state changes every 720 microsec, the logger would have to be able to read one word that fast.

I hope I haven't confused you more!

Hi Doug,

Our equipment just purely measures analogue voltage, the software will only allow you to see the sampled points. So in terms of storing them as words the only way I could see you doing this is sampling at a rate that is sufficiently high enough to be able to capture the shape of your waveform and then doing analysis on it after or during the capture.

Hi Doug,

The PL1000 might capture the data for you if it has enough channels.
You would have to write a small application to capture and convert the analogue data from the channels and write this to a file yourself.
