XY Oscilloscope does not work!

Post by gja »

No matter what I do, I can't see anything on the XY Scope screen; can you provide some settings samples ?
I run ADC-212/3 on Windows XP on Pentiun4 with 3 GB Ram.

Thank you.

Hi There,

ref: ADC 212

Please could you let me know your current settings in order to assist you.

Just to recap please try the following if you haven't already.

In order to set the X-Y scope view function.
Select view/new XY scope this should enable the x-y function.

It is possible that your timebase settings need adjustment. To adjust timebase in the X-Y mode please try the following procedure:- select settings from main menu/ select timebase (F2) and adjust timebase accordingly. Hope this helps.

Kindest regards
Stuart

XY Scope

Post by gja »

Thank you for your reply.
I think most of my problems exists because I don't understand how this thing works. In every XY scope I know of, the horizontal deflection is commanded by an external signal; in other words, you don't adjust any time base, it comes from the external input.

Is there any place in the manuals or in your site that explains how the Pico XY scope works ?

Thank you.

X-Y SCOPE CONFIGURATION

Post by Pico Stuart »

Hi There,

Please refer to section 5.8 of the attached manual PicoScope 5. (x-y scope configuration)

The XY Timebase controls the time interval for each scan. Ideally, it should be a little longer than a single cycle of the signal that you wish to observe.

The time per scan field sets the time interval between refreshes of the XY display. You should select a timebase slightly longer than the cycle time of your signal. This function is duplicated on the oscilloscope toolbar.

Kindest regards

Stuart
