TC-08 problems with usb connection

Post by stevejcb »

We currently have 6 TC-08's that our engineers use on site for data collection using their Dell laptops. We have now had several instances where the TC-08 and the Dell laptop will not comunicate.

This problem seems to be intermittent and not confined to one TC-08 or any one laptop.

I have just been informed by one of the engineers that they have just completed one test saved the data and then when attempting to start a second test the TC-08 and Dell that had been fine then refused to communicate.

Anyone got any ideas - as I've not been able to replicate this back in the office.

Hi and thank you for your post. Are you using USB hubs? We have a DELL laptop and there seems to be no problem with it. Is there any power saving modes on these laptops that could power down the hard drive or the USB connection?

The more information you can provide the easier it will be to help you.

Kind regards

Similar connection problems

I've seen a similar TC-08 connection problem from our own application with from 1 to 4 TC-08s using both direct Dell laptop connections and USB hub connections. It happens most frequently when the application disconnects but I've also seen it when starting up for the first time.

If you had the same number of TC-08s connected and all to the same USB ports. loading the software the next time they should all come up.

Have you made any physical modifications to the system or in software?

Kind regards

I have a serial to usb dongle that I use on my Dell laptop. The laptop recognizes it from every usb port, but it will only work from ONE specific usb port. If I plug it into any port but that one [there are 6 usb ports on my Dell laptop] I get a 'cannot communicate' error.

The dongle is for a Sensus Ultra. It reads water depth, time, temp....

Maybe they aren't plugging it intot he same port each time....
