Datalogger with PS2105?

Post by stefan »

We want to use the PS2105 as a Data logger.
They should log the Data for 1 week.
Is this possible with the PS2105 USB hand scope?
How many HD space we need to sample the data for 1 week?

Hi our PC based logging is only intended for short periods of time. It is however possible, however you are relying on the computer to be on at all times for that week. In terms of hard drive space, that all depends on how quick your are logging.

How quick do you want to sample and could you tell me more about your application.

Kind regards

We record a DMX stream (250kbit/s). One complete DMX stream time is 22ms.
We want to know if there is an blackout in the DMX512 line.
We have the problem that the devices are on a ship.
So we need 7 days recording time.

Hi well you can use our oscilloscopes in Fast Block mode using PicoLog recorder and you can trigger the block capture on an event.

Block mode in PicoLog captures a number of samples into the memory of the device, which allows you to have fast sample rates. So more memory you have the longer you will be able to sample. This means the scope will only record the data when a trigger event happens.

Your data stream is 250kS/s , so say you need to sample 10 times as quick, this would mean 2.5MS/s and you want a period of time of 22ms, this would mean you would require a device with 55kS or more.

This would mean you would have to look at any of our 3000,4000 or 5000 series oscilloscopes.

Kind regards
