'Live' data logging to a file

Post by steve_vmwx »

G'day Pico Tech

Is there a why to configure Pico Log to write data 'live' directly to a file. I want to read the file from another system (not Windows so no DDE option) and plot the data *during* data collection.

Cheers
Steve

Hi Steve, I am not quite following your query, what operating system do you mean?

In any case, please have a look at the Enviromon user manual

http://www.picotech.com/document/pdf/emw-en.pdf

and look at the drivers section.

Kind regards

Thanks for the prompt reply Ziko :)

The data file will be stored on a network share. Another OS will read the data from there.

TC08->PicoSW->Data file->Network drive->OtherOS->Plot etc

The data is coming from a TC08. Will EnviroMon support the TC08? I understand that EnviroMon can stream live to the file via the command line. This would be great.

Cheers

Hi Steve,

Not it was a momentary lapse of sanity on my behalf! Enviromon is for another product!

Firstly PicoLog only runs on a Windows based Operating system.
However if you look at the user manual of PicoLog you can see how to read the .plw file in section 7.2

http://www.picotech.com/document/pdf/plw044.pdf

Hope this helps
