Data logging an anemometer

Post by Guest »

Hello
I have an application where I need to view the output from 6 anemometers all at one on a pc screen preferably in a graph format.

I have an anemometer on trial, it has an rs 232 to usb converter but the software that comes with it is not up to the job. ( the vane anemometer is separate to the hand held display and control, the rs232 cable is attached to the control)

Could I -
a. plug in ther usb or rs232 into the 11 channel USB Data logger, 10-bit, directly? and get a result?
b. I dont know what the pin-out of the vane sensor is, but could I connect this directly to the data logger? ( I think it must be a pulsed output from vane rotating?)

Any Ideas?

Thanks

Hi

The ADC-11 records voltage. It is likely that your anemometer outputs a series of pulses.

You would need to use a frequency-to-voltage converter to give you a voltage proportional to wind speed.

I hope this helps
