How do I make the trigger work?

Post by Gorm »

Hi.

Setup:
ADC11/10 data logger,
PLW Recorder ver. 5.20.1

Requirement: signal on channel 1 starts logging channel 2.
The signal on channel 1 goes from 2V to 0 when we wants to log channel 2.

No matter how I try to set up the recorder it stays in the state saying 'Ready to start'.

My settings are now:
Fast block,
Action at end of run: Repeat immediately
Restart delay. 3 seconds.

ADC-11 (USB)

Channel 1 named Squelch
Channel 2 named RSSI, Trigger enabled, Direction: Falling, Channel 1, Threshold: 800 mV, Delay: 0%, Auto trigger after 1000 mS.

No of samples: 500
Number of samples stays konstant.

Filename: NONAME1.PLW.

I can see on the Recorder picture that the level on channel 1 goes to zero when I try to trigger.

What is wrong, please??

Hello Gorm,

I have successfully tried your setup and wonder if you have remembered to select 'File' > 'New data' before attempting to record?

Regards
John

Hi John.

Yes, I have selected a file. I have added some screendumps from setting up the PLW-recorder.

When I try to play back the files (I have had up to five different files) the player says '0 samples'.

Regards Gorm.

Hi John.

I have worked some more with the setup, and I now figured out how to use it in this application.
The first thing was finger troubles and a bit of misunderstanding in reading the manual. The second is I have to be very careful how to wire the trigger input. The slighest noise will destroy everything, so a very good filter is necessary.

Thanks for your assistance.

Hi Gorm,

Please de-select 'Auto trigger after'.

Click on the 'start' icon in Recorder before the initial trigger, to set the recorder.

I believe the above should solve the problem

John
