Slow sweep display problem with 2105

Post by CoyoteDavid »

I am using the 2105 with PicoScope 6 and have problems when the sweep rate is 200 mS/div and slower. I have a repeating signal that I am trying to capture that comes by randomly about every 10 or 20 seconds. The preTrigger is set to 10%, "Repeat" mode. The display shows the first division only most of the time, while waiting for a trigger. The last 9 divisions are blanked. Then when a trigger occurs, the trace scans across the display, till it reaches 100%, then clears again. If I stop, the waveform memories hold the full values correctly. Is this normal?

Also, when in this mode, I only get 2005 samples at 1K samples/second (even though I have it set for 50K samples). The scope has 24K memory size. Why is the number of samples so limited? At 100 mS/div I get 24420 samples at 24.41K samples/second. That is much more reasonable, but it doesn't capture enough time for my purpose. Is there some way to get PicoScope to always capture the number of samples you specify (up to the memory limit of course)? It is fine if it only displays what fits on the screen, but it would be nice to be able to use the entire buffer.

Hi and thank you for your post.

If you are using PicoScope 5 and go to :

Settings->Options-> Adcanced-> and set "Slow sampling" to Block mode.

And also make sure that

"Maximum Samples per scope trace" is set to 50000 or above.

Currently in PicoScope 6 you are limited to 1KS/s at 200ms or slower.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards

I am using PicoScope 6. Can I have both loaded at the same time? I thought I had to uninstall PicoScope 5 to get PicoScope 6.

Is there a plan to allow block mode for 200 mS or slower in the future for PicoScope 6?

Hi you can have both version of the software installed. This feature will be out in PicoScope 6 hopefully in the next release.

Hope this helps.
