Update in serial decoding Window

Post by ulf_l »

Hello

There is a little issue with the updating of the serial decoding window:
If I set a filter condition, for example the frame-ID of a LIN-decoder the data are only displayed for a short time. It would be very helpful, if the frame is displayed so long, until the next frame with a fulfilled filter condition occures.
Actual it seems like the displayed frame will be cleared when the next frame arrived, no matter if it will fulfil the filter condition or not.

Kind regards,
Ulf

Have you changed from "Current Buffer" to "All Buffers" in the table section ?

Hello

I think I have used the "current buffer" setting, but I'm not sure. I will try it to morrow again.

Best regards,
Ulf

Hello

It doesn't matter if the setting is in current or all buffers. With all buffers it might take a little more time until all buffers run out of date. To track a Lin-Message with a specified ID it would be great if the message didn't disappear until the next message with a match to the filter condition will occur.

Kind regards,
Ulf

Do you mean that you wish to have the decoded data for buffers that are no longer in the waveform buffer memory ? In effect a continuous log of the data, but filtered ?

Hello Martyn

If you say
Do you mean that you wish to have the decoded data for buffers that are no longer in the waveform buffer memory
it sounds a little bit strange ... viewing data that are no longer present.
But yes,
In effect a continuous log of the data, but filtered
that would be very helpful to scan serial streams with filter conditions. For example if you know the problem comes with a specific frame, it would help very much to get the problem visualized.

Ulf

The issue would be that, with no waveform in the buffer memory to correspond to a filtered packet, it would not be possible to look at the actual signal. I suggest emailing support@picotech.com to discuss this suggestion in more detail
