best for logging amps and taking pressure reading

Post by Guest »

Could anyone give me the best option to log the motor amps of 3 units, and to log a pressure reading (3x compressors and constant pressure).
I wish to be able to download to a pc and produce graphs, data from a 7 day period, the logging intervals must be no more than 20 sec.
I am fully confused at all the options available.
I sp[oke with Pico tech, the envirmon starter kit seems ok to log the amps but how do I log the pressure ? Would I need to power any of the transducers or would this be auto fed from log box, I am expecting to use a 4-20ma transducer.... I think :?

Hi and thank you for your post. The enviromon system samples at best, once every minute so it will not be suitable in your case, you say 20 seconds.

This leaves you with our PC based data logging software and hardware. This would require you to have your logger connected to a PC at all times. Is this something you can do you require it to be remote like enviromon?

Kind regards

Hi,
I need the logger to be portable, to allow the logging of units on sites throughout the country, an example of previously used unit is the Energair logger, but the prices are ridiculous ! having said that it looks like this could be my only option.
I suppose I could manage with the 60sec log short term, but would I still need a pc on site ? ......... there is some dodgy areas I visit and probably wouldn't see the pc or logger again!

Please could you explain how and what 'hardware' I would require, and how I would use this to log 1x pressure reading and 3x separate current readings.
I like the looks of the Pico product and the software doesn't look to bad, plus the price isn't bad, but i need this to be easy to set up and produce impressive results ! because this is hopefully going to help promote the value of variable speed equipment - sale of which starts at £5k upto £50k.
All your help would be greatly appreciated

Hello Guest,

If your current measuring requirement is between 0.1A to 300A AC, then the EL040 current monitoring kit (http://www.picotech.com/e_converters.html#el040) would be suitable. The kit includes everthing that you require to log three separate current channels.

For pressure logging capability, you would additionally require an EL037 'General Purpose Converter' and a third party pressure sensor with current output of 4-20mA or, fullscale voltage output of 2.5V or 10V.

Hi,
Thank you for your replies.
I just need to know if the EL040, with a suitable pressure transducer, is a completely separate unit, i.e a logger in itself, or is it to be used in conjuction with the other kits mentioned?
Thanks
john

Hello Guest,

The EL037 with a suitable pressure transducer plugs into the EL005 Data Logger which is the central unit of EnviroMon (http://www.picotech.com/e_introduction.html) and, is already included with the Current Monitoring Kit.

John
