Which Picoscope for 1-wire analysis

Post by micksulley »

I need a scope to analyse a problem with a 1-wire network. I have found an article on this site
https://www.picotech.com/library/oscill ... l-decoding
explaining how to do it but I am unsure which model picoscope I need. Will any of them do the job?
Also I would like to run it on Linux Mint, is there any problem with that? If absolutely necessary I could use XP, but prefer not to.

Thanks
Mick

Hi micksulley,

Any model PicoScope should be able to decode 1-wire (the data rate is not particularly fast). The limiting factor is going to be, how much data do you need to decode in one capture session (how much communication do you need to diagnose the problem)? The amount that you can capture in one go will depend on the size of the PicoScope models hardware buffer. You can use the Oscilloscope comparison tool (see here: https://www.picotech.com/products/oscil ... ifications) to compare the buffers of different models.

The Linux version of PicoScope 6 should run on Linux Mint O.K. (see here for accessing it: https://www.picotech.com/downloads/linux) and supports 1-wire (see here: topic19011.html).
