PicoScope 7 Software
Available on Windows, Mac and Linux
The PicoScope 6000 Series of high–performance oscilloscopes has been refreshed for 2012. There are now six new models to cater for a wide range of budgets and applications. They are all USB–connected, have 4 input channels plus a signal generator output, and are supplied with the latest PicoScope software.
Each scope is packaged with a set of 4 matched x10 passive probes.
Fast. Each scope has deep memory to allow high sampling rates even on long timebases.
Comprehensive. All the advanced features of PicoScope are built in at no extra cost: serial decoding, mask limit testing, measurements and statistics, channel math, advanced triggers and more.
Time–saving. The USB oscilloscope concept means that your waveforms and other data are instantly available on your PC.
Space–saving. Only 170 mm (6.7") wide x 40 mm (1.6") high, stackable, and easy to carry around with your laptop.
Future–proofed. Updates to the PicoScope software can be downloaded free of charge.
Programmable. A free Software Development Kit is available to allow you to control the scopes from your own software applications.
Here is the new PicoScope 6000 Series line–up:
Model | Bandwidth | Sampling | Buffer | FG/AWG |
PicoScope 6402A | 250 MHz | 5 GS/s | 128 MS | FG |
PicoScope 6402B | 250 MHz | 5 GS/s | 256 MS | FG + AWG |
PicoScope 6403A | 350 MHz | 5 GS/s | 256 MS | FG |
PicoScope 6403B | 350 MHz | 5 GS/s | 512 MS | FG + AWG |
PicoScope 6404A | 500 MHz | 5 GS/s | 512 MS | FG |
PicoScope 6404B | 500 MHz | 5 GS/s | 1 GS | FG + AWG |
Sampling:maximum single–channel sampling rate. FG:function generator. AWG:arbitrary waveform generator.
There’s a wealth of instructional videos on youtube channel, a free service that we provide to help you get the best out of your PicoScope. There are videos on general topics such as setting up and triggering, as well as advanced topics like these:
Rapid Triggering with the PicoScope 3204A
Q. I would like to use rapid mode triggering to avoid gaps between waveforms, but although it is listed as possible in the data sheet, it isn’t offered in the trigger menu.
A. You will need to select 1 ms/div or quicker in PicoScope for the Rapid Trigger Mode option to appear in the drop–down options. There will still be a gap in data between blocks although this will be as short as 2 µs on the fastest timebase, much smaller than in normal block mode.
XY mode in PicoScope
Q. How do I enable XY mode in PicoScope?
A. In the simplest case: right–click on the scope view, then choose ‘X-Axis’ and ‘B’. This will plot channel A vertically against channel B horizontally. PicoScope’s XY mode can actually plot any input, math or reference channel against any other; so, for example, you could plot log(Ch A) against log(Ch B).
Experienced users of the PicoLog data logging software, please bear with us as we answer a question repeatedly asked by beginners: can PicoLog collect data from multiple devices at once? The answer is yes, but to do so you need to know the basics of PicoLog’s data collection modes.
In the File > New Settings > Recording dialog, the “Recording method” option can be set to “Real time continuous”, “Streaming” or “Fast block”. To use multiple devices you must set this option to “Real time continuous”. In the same dialog you must then set the “Use multiple converters” box. When you progress to theConverters dialog, you will see a list of all connected devices from which you can add channels. In most cases, up to 20 devices can be opened at once.
