PicoScope 7 Software
Available on Windows, Mac and Linux
We start the year with a new beta release of PicoScope: R6.7.12. This has the following new features for you to try out:
Signal generator triggers — Start and stop the signal generator or AWG manually or on an external signal. Generate a specified number of cycles. Available on all current USB scopes with a signal generator/AWG from PicoScope 2206 upwards, excluding PicoScope 4226 and 4227.
I²S decoding — Analyze serial data in digital audio circuits.
Selective save — Save specified waveforms from the waveform buffer. Save the visible portion of a zoomed waveform.
Keyboard maps — Save multiple sets of keyboard shortcuts. Load standard or advanced default sets.
Faster serial decoding — Typical results: FlexRay 8x faster, CAN bus 3x faster, SPI 2x faster, I²C 2.8x faster, UART 10% faster.

Differential measurements
Q. Can I make differential measurements using two channels of my PicoScope 2205?
A. Yes. Any of our two–channel or four–channel scopes can be used to make differential measurements. Use the Tools > Channel Maths function. Simply select “A–B” as your maths channel and a differential measurement of channels A and B will be given on–screen.
Integrate subset of waveform
Q. I would like PicoScope to calculate the power consumption of a part of my sampled waveform (e.g. over 1 second of time, how much power is consumed?). With math channels I can integrate easily but only over the entire trace. How can I choose a subset of the trace and integrate over it?
A. Instead of integrating, use the ‘DC average’ measurement. Under ‘Choose what section of the graph…’ choose ‘Between rulers’. Then in the bottom left corner of the scope view there will be a small white box that you can drag into the window. Do it twice to place the rulers where you want to measure. Read out the DC average in the measurement box at the bottom.
