Building and Testing an IR Light Gate

In this video, James shows a quick example of building and testing an IR light gate using an oscilloscope. With two resistors, an IR LED, and an IR phototransistor, you can measure the speed of an object or the RPM of a motor.

This example uses a PicoScope 2000 Series Oscilloscope. Check out the full video on our YouTube channel, or find out more about the PicoScope 2000 Series below.

‘Staying Hot’ with PicoLog 1216: A novel methodology for nocturnal erection detection (yes, really!)

Our PicoLog 1216 Data Logger has recently played a vital role in a scientific study assessing the impact of overnight environmental conditions on erectile penile temperature within a controlled setting. This investigation aims to aid in erectile dysfunction diagnostics by providing accurate detection of a major symptom.

We love to see applications for our products in medical and scientific sectors, and across a broad number of disciplines. You can read the full study report to find out more about the role of the PicoLog 1216 in documenting the ‘Staying Hot’ effect.
