Mixed Signal Oscilloscope Training and Demo Board
Our new oscilloscope demo board is well-suited for educational purposes and serves as an excellent guide for everyone from beginners, complete with a comprehensive primer on oscilloscope fundamentals, to the more advanced seasoned users of test instrumentation. This versatile tool is designed to showcase and demonstrate the capabilities of your (mixed signal) oscilloscope.
Features:
– A teaching tool that can be used as a quick start guide with any manufacturers of oscilloscopes to minimize the learning time involved with using a new oscilloscope.
– Two configuration switches for selecting waveform type, speeds, serial interfaces and other parameters.
– Built-in function / waveform generator (0.2 Hz to 10 kHz in 16 steps)
for generation of sine, square, triangle, ramp and many other test signals.
– Generation of common serial protocols such as SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, CAN-FD, LIN, Manchester and parallel bus interface.
– Advanced triggering methodology and fundamentals.
– RF test track with 450 ps rise time (RF and termination demo on PCB’s).
To learn more, visit the Mixed Oscilloscope Training and Demo Board page on the Pico Technology website.

PSI5 Serial Protocol Decoding
PSI5 (Peripheral Sensor Interface 5) is a standardized serial communication protocol commonly used in the automotive industry for connecting sensors and actuators to an Engine Control Module (ECM) or other control systems in vehicles.
PSI5 is a two-wire interface using the same lines for power supply and data transmission. Data transmissions and synchronization control from the controller to the sensor are accomplished via modulation of the supply voltage. Data transmissions from the device back to the controller are accomplished via modulation of the current on the power supply line.
You can find out more about PSI5 serial protocol decoding in our new A to Z entry, on our website.

Rise/Fall time trigger in PicoScope 7
Rise/Fall time trigger, can also be referred to as Slope or Slew rate trigger. This trigger measures the time the signal takes to transition between two voltage thresholds: from a lower threshold to an upper threshold in the case of rise time, or the opposite in the case of fall time.
The scope triggers when the measured transition time meets a user-specified time condition: greater than, less than, inside a range, or outside a range of times. Unlike window pulse width trigger, rise/fall-time trigger allows you to trigger specifically on rising edges or on falling edges that meet a time condition. This can be useful if the expected slew rate of rising and falling edges is different in your system.
Rise/Fall time trigger is available in PicoScope 7. The video below offers an introduction to Rise/Fall, but you can also check out our new A to Z entry for a thorough explanation.

Soil Temperature Testing with the TC-08 Datalogger
Join us in raising awareness for World Soil Day and let us work together to nurture our planet. Check out this fun video experiment in our garden here at Pico HQ in Cambridgeshire. Using our TC-08 data logger with PicoLog 6 we’re testing the temperature of the soil to highlight the crucial role it plays in our ecosystem.
At Pico Technology, we’ve always championed environmental responsibility, but the recent IPCC and UN reports have underscored the urgency to do more. Taking inspiration from science and recognizing the imminent threats of climate change and biodiversity loss, we believe it’s our responsibility to act now and make changes.
You can check out this video below, and visit our Pico Planet landing page to find out more about what we’re doing to enact positive change.

SDK based SCPI interface of real-world PicoVNA® measurement to your simulation environment
Retrieving data from the PicoVNA 5 software via SCPI is a common user application for anyone involved in RF simulation and modeling. This video demonstrates how quickly and easily the PicoVNA 5 software can be integrated into your application.
The video starts by showing a simple model of an RF circuit, using emulated networks. We then use the PicoVNA 5 software to acquire real data for the networks and show how this data can be substituted into the circuit model. Check it out below!

This is Dave (A Probe Positioning System Story)
Oscilloscopes with more than two channels present humans with a common problem: none of us have enough hands to hold more than two oscilloscope probes in place. This is especially an issue when using an 8-channel oscilloscope such as the PicoScope 6800E devices, so it was particularly important for Pico Technology to address it with the Pico probe positioning system. Be sure to check it out below!
