I bought this inexpensive data-logger for a “homer” of monitoring the temperature and running time of my solar panels. After some excellent advice from PICO with the setting up of the thermistors after I failed with thermocouples, the logger, data gathering into excel and the connector board all worked well and just as expected. The limited accuracy did not matter to me of 10 bit but might to some. I logged time when the panels were operating and the tempertures in and out of the tank. Hardly rocket science and well within the capbility of the device. The USB connectability was the cream. Ultra simple. Hope this helps others.

We use the Picolog 1216 for monitoring various parameters when testing high-performance cascade freezers for human plasma production.  We can monitor (with various accessories) running current of compressors, mains voltage, running currents of circulation pumps, and running current of defrost heaters.

As well as all this, we also use a USB TC-08 to monitor critical refrigeration system parameters such as suction & discharge line temperatures, intake air temperature, condenser temperature and exhaust temperature. As well, of course, as the overall time these systems take to reach their operating temperature of -55 degrees C.  This combination of Picolog 1216 and TC-08 is also an invaluable tool during faultfinding, where faults may take up to 72 hours to develop.

The ‘Multiple Converters’ ability of the PicoLog software means that we can document the whole process from start to finish.

Truly excellent products.
